A Rustic Mid-century Modern atop a Mountain Ridge

Ridge Line Lodge sits atop Dalton Ridge, high above the David Dana Forest, in that with expansive views of the NH White Mountains, including the Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range.

The lodge was designed and built in the late 60’s by David Dana, who later established the forest park down below. The unique and grand structure is reminiscent of a state park lodge of that era, 4 stories high, with a view that takes your breath away and makes you smile. It’s a special place. The striking central fireplace is open on four sides, which is truly a wonderful thing. The exterior is redwood. The 12″ by 12″ Douglas fir beams, measuring up to 35 ft in length, came from the state of Washington via the Panama Canal. They were then disembarked at the port of Portland, Maine and trucked through Crawford Notch and up the mountain to become the unique getaway that it is today.
